Taiwan Scooter Tax & Fees is an independent website: License tax, road fee and compulsory insurance for scooters in Taiwan, in one calculator.
Owning a scooter in Taiwan means a license tax bill in April, a road fee in July, compulsory insurance on your own renewal date and, after five years, a yearly emission check. The official tables that set these amounts are spread across several laws and agencies and are written only in Chinese. We built Taiwan Scooter Tax & Fees so that riders, including foreign residents, can see the figures in one place with the source for each.
What we publish

- Reference pages for each charge: the license tax and road fee brackets, compulsory insurance premiums, the emission inspection rules and fines, a payment calendar, e-scooter subsidies, and how electric and petrol scooters differ.

How we check information
Every figure comes from an official source: the License Tax Act and its schedules and the highway use, maintenance and safety management fee regulations (Laws & Regulations Database of the Ministry of Justice), the compulsory insurance rate table published by the Taiwan Insurance Institute and the Financial Supervisory Commission’s Insurance Bureau, the Ministry of Environment’s scooter inspection site, and the subsidy guidelines and summaries of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Administration. Each page shows the date its figures were last checked against those sources and lists them at the bottom, and the short answer at the top is built from the same data as the tables. Where we could not verify an amount, such as some late-payment penalties, we say so instead of guessing. Data with an end date, such as the subsidy round, is flagged when it expires.
